Community to us means the Seattle area, and
more specifically West and South Seattle. Here are some great groups we
belong to and/or support:
Community Orchard of West Seattle (C.O.W.S.)
– A new public orchard and perennial food production project located on the
campus at South Seattle Community College.
Filled with real-world examples of permaculture
techniques and strategies, this site is an invaluable resource for those who want
more than theories out of a book or classroom.
 Sustainable
West Seattle- A wonderful, active group of folks who have very
informative monthly meetings. They are part of the SCALLOPS
(Sustainable Communities ALL Over Puget Sound) network.
SCALLOPS-
See Sustainable West Seattle, above. Check out the SCALLOPS website to
see if there's a group in your neighborhood, or start one!
Sustainable
Seattle- Sustainable Seattle was founded in 1991 as a non-profit
organization to spread the idea and practice of sustainability on a city,
country, regional and even international level. Sustainable Seattle is
a strong and inclusive community focused on social justice, education and
collaboration as tools for a brighter future.
Meetup.com-
A great forum for local folks to advertise workshops, organize lectures and
tours, and communicate about all levels of permaculture
experience.
Seattle
Permaculture Guild- This sweet local site is a
super resource for job hunting and nuts-and-bolts information for the more
experienced permaculture practitioners. It's a wiki
website so you can post your own content, too.
Community Harvest
of Southwest Seattle- Another active local
group that believes in "sharing from our hearts and gardens".
CHSS hosts and promotes classes and events focused on helping the local
people get together to create stronger connections and a healthier community.
